Patient Reviews
The following are reviews from patients of Dr. McCollum.
“I am a very active 67 year old that became basically crippled with a bad leg. Dr. McCollum took great care to diagnose my issue and ended up performing an anterior hip replacement. The diagnosis was spot on and the surgery was successful. Dr. McCollum is an extraordinary surgeon.”

“Overall, it was a good experience. However, I spent a couple of days in the hospital after knee replacement surgery. I was released to go home even though I repeatedly told the staff that I was retaining fluid and having trouble breathing a tithing. Within less than 24 hours, I had to go back into the hospital Iwith extreme shortness of breath. This time they took about 17 pounds of fluid from me. I was in the hospital this time for five days, and I repeatedly asked for physical therapy for my knee. A therapist came in once or twice but did not provide the treatment I should have had. I was encouraged to walk in the hall with help one time. I felt the hospital staff he ignored my breathing/fluid retention issues the first time around and ignored the post-surgery need for physical therapy the second time around. I think the hospital needs a more holistic approach. They seemed to have tunnel vision - only treating one condition at a time. As a result, my recovery time has been extended.”
– Jean L.

“Dr. McCollum was very professional. I saw him for close to a year before my surgery while I was receiving shots in my knee for pain. He never pressured me to have surgery, he said that I would know when it was time, and he was right. I had robotic surgery in May 2018, and everything went great. His office staff was very thorough in preparing me for the operation, and when I went to the hospital for my pre-surgery tests, I was also scheduled for a CT scan and a class on joint replacement the same day. Everything was very organized and informative. I had a total knee replacement on a Wednesday morning and was walking to the bathroom that afternoon. On Thursday morning I took a long walk up and down the hall and had my first physical therapy session. I went home that afternoon, and on Friday morning I started my physical therapy sessions. Six weeks later I was released from Physical therapy. I never imagined that I would do so well and would be so far along in my recovery so soon. I can't say enough about Dr. McCollum and his staff; my entire experience was so much better than I could have ever anticipated.”
– Linda S.
